Natural Colors + Peach

Hello! *grin* I have been pretty bad about blogging lately and I apologize.  Life has just been getting in the way. Before I "introduce" my outfit to you, I want to tell you about Anna's new post. It was written wonderfully, as usual. For the past few months she has been taking the letters of the word Modesty and coming up with new words. (For example, this weeks letter was "S" so Anna talked about self -control.) Be sure to check out her posts by clicking here.

The introduction: I am super excited to show you this outfit. :) Mom had put this dress in my sisters' closet years ago and we "re-discovered" it last week. Naturally, I wanted to wear this. A cute white dress paired with a peach cardigan and brown shoes. I reeeeally like this combo. Can you tell?

The dress with the sweater off...

The dress with the sweater on.
Dress: ??
Sweater: Belk
Shoes: Shoe Station

Personally, I like the dress with the sweater on because it brightens up natural colors. :) Three tones in one!

I have some ideas for some new blog posts so be on the lookout! It's nothing dramatic, but it'll definitely be worth the read. If you have any ideas (drastic or not) be sure to tell me in the comments and I will do my best to incorperate your ideas into my upcoming posts. Check back Monday (the 30th) for Week Four of my Instagram Challenge.

#5 Out of This World Girl

Hello Everyone!
I apologize for not posting the last few weeks. I have been so busy this summer, but having a great one!
I hope all of y'all are having a great summer as well.  We have been  making words using the letters in "modesty," and today we are on letter 'S.' The word is self-control. Modesty is using self-control. I think we all know the meaning of self-control; control over your feelings and actions. As I have said many times on the “Out of This World Girl” posts, many women and girls just do not use self-control when it comes to being modest. My mom told me a story a couple of months ago about a girl that was raised to dress using self-control, but didn't use it one day.
This girl I believe was in college and came home night when she and her family had plans to go to the movies. She came wearing shorts that were too short. Her Father was not pleased, and so he thought of a rather interesting punishment. Her father got a pair of jeans, cut them into shorts like hers, put them on to wear to the movies. This really embarrassed the girl, and I'm thinking that she wasn't going to wear those shorts again.
I think this story is quite funny, but it does show what your dad might do to you if you don't follow your family's modesty rules! If we don't do our best to be modest there will be consequences. In a way, I feel bad for people that dress or act in a way that draws attention. They just don't know how ridiculous they look. That's why it is so important for us to be modest, not go with the flow, and set an example as we talked about in our last “Out of This World Girl” post.

Proverbs 25:28
"A man without self-control is like a city broken into and left without walls."

This bible verse above shows us what we're like if we don't have self-control. Let us try to be better examples, and have more self-control every day that we live. I hope to finish up with the last two letters of modesty over the next four weeks!

Friday Favorites | Swimming, Flowers, and Verses

Happy (or is it merry...) Midsummer Eve! There is this Norwegian legend that says if you pick seven wildflowers and sleep with them under your pillow, you will dream of the one you will marry. ;)

1. This verse. So amazing. The Lord will fight for me. It still amazes me how much God loves us. *grin*

2. Roses. We have a rosebush in our backyard and I love smelling/looking at the roses. Roses and carnations are my favorite flowers! :)

3. This nail polish. How cute is this color?! Our neighbor gave the nail polish to us a few weeks ago and I tried it Saturday. I love how it made my toes pop.

4. You are probably wondering why I posted a picture of a random guy. Care to guess who he is? Matthew West. He's a Christian singer who we happen to listen to. You've probably heard of his song "Hello my Name Is". His songs are super encouraging to us.

5. Doodling. Seriously y'all, it's so relaxing. Plus, you learn some really cool quotes.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Traveling // Ten Tips

I hope you are all having a great day. *smile* I'm back to give you helpful tips when traveling.

1. Instead of folding your clothes, roll them. It keeps them wrinkle free and saves space.

2. To keep clothes smelling fresh, put a dryer sheet in your suitcase.

3. If you want to hide your secret stash of paper money, roll it up and insert it inside an empty Chapstick container.

4. Thread your necklaces through a straw to keep them tangle-free.

5.  To keep earrings together, place them in the little holes on a button.

6.  Fold a potholder in half and sew along the edge for an instant curling iron/wand/straightener holder. You can pack it even while it's hot!

7. Use an empty Tic-Tac box to keep up with bobby pins.

8. Cut a square out of cling wrap and place under the tops of shampoo, conditioner, lotion and lotion bottles to minimize spilling.

9. To keep shoes from soiling your clothes, place the pair together the way they came in the shoe box and keep in a shopping bag.

10. Store makeup in contact lenses to maximize space.

I hope y'all enjoyed this! Should I do another travel post soon? Maybe a 'what I pack when I go on vacation' (or out of town for that matter) post. So yay or nay?
Leave your thoughts in the comments!

{Blessings}

Hello! I'm going to get right to the point today. =) If you're anything like me, then you will occasionally feel sorry for yourself. You throw yourself a pity party and focus on the negative instead of the positive. That was me. We bought a house we were going to (and still are) renovating two years ago. We knew that it needed some repairs and replacing, but we didn't think that it would take too long. A year tops since we were only working on weekends. We added on and found a few lot of things we needed to take care of...the details aren't necessary so I'll just tell you that the one year turned into two. We were really thinking that we would move in before August 2014 but that doesn't look like it will be the case because we can't do one project until we finish the other. Anyway,  needless to say, we were all disappointed and discouraged because we all wanted to move in soon. I, threw myself a little pity party for a couple of days. I didn't even want to think about the house. I was about ready to give up and then, I don't know, something-or rather someone-changed my mind. Instead of focusing on this negative setback, I needed to focus on the positive which is why I wrote a "Blessings" page in my journal. I will go ahead and share a few of my blessings with y'all.

Blessings:

1. We're closer to finishing the house than we were two, even one, year ago.
2. We have started painting the walls so that's one step closer.
3. We have our "old" house we can are living in so it's not like we don't have anywhere to stay.
4. We have amazing friends we can call if we need help painting or doing anything else.
5. We have learned work ethic.
6. Mom is two miles from work right now but she wouldn't be if we were already moved in.
7. Same thing for Dad. All of his customers are in town so he doesn't have to drive far.
8. God can and will get is through this and it is strengthening our faith along the way.

There are so many other blessings I can think of that's relevant-and that's just the house! That's not even counting all the other abundant blessings we are graciously given. I didn't share our-for lack of a better word-story to get pity or sympathy. I shared it to give a legitimate example of a situation where you can become or feel discouraged. This is nothing compared to what others might go through. 99 percent of the time, others have it worse problems than you. I'm not saying that I won't have another pity party at some other time of my life-I probably will sooner than you think-but we, I especially, have to remind ourselves that God is with us and He is for us. He will guide us along the right path. Joshua 1:9 is one of my favorite verses and you can see why.

"This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Wow. Just wow. God is with me, me, wherever I go. Writing down my blessings has helped me so I encourage you to do the same. On a side note, I have found it very useful to have a favorite saying or reminder on the front of your journal. Mine is "Let it Be" because I am supposed to let it be and let God take control instead of trying to do things myself.
