Black and White

I hope y'all are having a great weekend! :) I have another new post for you. This is a dress I actually got last week. I like how it's black and white so you can add some colorful shoes or purse or even earrings! ;)

I wish it was longer but overall, I think it's cute. :)

Review | Websites

Hi again! :D I have some website recommendations for y'all on this lovely day. *smiles*

The Rebelution blog. Alex and Brett Harris are two brothers who have started a teenage rebellion against low expectations. They have written a book called Do Hard Things and it is wonderful. The blog has different sections. For example, one section is for news, another is projects you can get involved in, and another section contains articles about how teenagers have made an impact in the world.

Another website you might be interested in, is the Pioneer Woman. Ree Drummond is a mother, chef on Food Network, cattle ranch owner, and a home school mom. Her website has delicious recipes, fun stories, and her homeschooling experiences. We love reading her blog and watching her show on Food Network. (It comes on Saturday mornings at 9 central!)

Books Should Be Free is a website that reads books aloud to you. They have lots of classics. I usually listen to Anne of Green Gables. Thanks to Julie Anne for showing this to me a few months ago! By the way, I tried the Audible (by Amazon) thirty day trial. I liked it except that it was too expensive to continue my membership. I think it was $15 a month for one book and if you wanted to read more, you had to buy them. To me, it is just cheaper to actually buy the books in paperback form. Although Audible is pricey, I really liked it. It was great to use when I ran or was riding in the car.

Easy Peasy. This is a free home school curriculum that my sisters and I used this past year. I have some friends who also use the curriculum and we all like it. It was very interesting (especially the science for eighth grade).

I hope that this is helpful to you. :) I read/use these websites a lot and I just thought I would share.

Review | Swimsuits

Hello! Summer is right around the corner and so is swimming. :) I have pictures of cute and modest swimsuits below that y'all might be interested in. :) Click on the bold-faced words and it should open the link in a new tab.

Rey Swimwear is one of my favorite swimsuit sites. Jessica Rey started the business and her slogan is "Who says it has to be itsy bitsy?" She started the business because she couldn't find any cute, modest tankinis. I love their swimsuits and the picture above is my favorite one. I have to warn you though, they're on the steep side cash-wise. This video is Jessica talking about the evolution of swimsuits. It's a fantastic watch and I think all girls should watch it.

This swimsuit is from JCPenny. (Sorry the picture is bad quality!) This is one of mine and I think it's really cute. It also comes in different colors. It's a little low, but I think you can fix that and you also might want to add some shorts. :)

This is another swimsuit form JCPenny.  You could add shorts to this one too.

This one is from Lands End. It's low but I think you might be able to fix that with a sewing machine. I was showing it more for the skirt though.
Last one! :) This one is also from Lands End. I love this!

If you didn't like any of these, try this website. You'd probably like those swimsuits better.
Please let me know your thoughts on this post. I'm always trying to improve the blog. :)
Have a great day!

#4 Out of This World Girl

Hello again!

We will continue taking letters from 'modesty' to get words that will help us learn to be more modest in our actions and how we dress. Today we are going to take the letter E from 'modesty', to make the word 'Example'.

Example- a person or way of behaving that is seen as a model that should be followed

We all need to work on being an example to our friends and family in how we dress and act. Like we talked about last week, many people want to dress and act immodestly because of how their friends do, or because they want attention. That would be a bad example if we followed those ways. Here are a few ways of how someone can set a bad example:

  • bad use of language
  • boy crazy
  • smoking and drinking
  • acting in a way that doesn't give a good impression
  • gossip
  • dressing immodestly
  • dominating a conversation
  • apathy (not caring for others' feelings)
  • being a drama queen
  • excluding others
…. The list could go on. There are so many people that practice being bad examples in theses ways. But, there are also so many wonderful, Christian ways to act too:
  • generosity
  • helpfulness
  • kind words
  • peacefulness
  • modesty
  • a positive attitude
  • sympathetic
  • discerning
  • carefulness
  • thoughtfulness

Being a good example could change the way others think about these things. We want to strive every day to be a better Christian example to others. God will help us if we ask for guidance.

Fun and Feminine

Friday Favorites | Food, Book, and YouTube

Hi! Happy Friday! I have another "Friday Favorites" post for y'all today. :)

    1. Yoga ball: We don't have enough couch space when all of us are watching T.V. together. So, one of us (usually me) has to sit on the floor. (Womp, womp.) (Until!), I started sitting on our yoga ball. Yipee! Problem solved! I love this thing. :P Y'know, there's so much for us to be thankful for....even if it's something as small as a yoga ball. =)
     2. Chick-Fil-Ae: The best fast-food place ever. Delicious food, good (and fast) service, great morals. etc. We all adore it. =) (By the way, I did not take this picture. I got it off of Chick-Fil-Ae's Instagram.)
    3. Netflix: What else do I have to say about that except that it. is. awesome. We got streaming a couple weeks ago and we love it. Last Saturday, we watched  a movie together. It was great because we didn't have to buy it or go somewhere to rent it. We just clicked on the Netflix app on the Wii and picked a movie. (By the way, the movie we watched was called Marriage Retreat. It was cute.)
    4. Blimey Cow: Blimey Cow is a great, Christian YouTube Channel that posts videos every Monday, Wednesday,  and Friday. The Monday videos (Messy Mondays) make you think and laugh. The Wednesday videos (Big Head Kid) are...well...I don't know how to explain them. Just watch them. :) The Friday videos, are called Jordan's Messyges and those are great too!  My cousin and Uncle introduced me to their videos a little over a year ago, I think.  My favorite ones are: 7 Lies About Homeschoolers, 7 More Lies About Homeschoolers, and In Everything but God We Trust. Definitely check them out!
      5. The Book: Starting A Micro Business. I'm probably half way through the it. It's a good read so far.
What are your favorite things this week? Be looking for an outfit post later today or tomorrow.

      Algebra and Pinterest

I'm back again! ;) It's been a bit of a stressful week. :-| I found out last Friday that I have to retake Algebra 1 this summer. Algebra is probably the toughest subject for me so it was pretty hard to grasp the many, many concepts of it. Hopefully I will be done with it by August so I can start Geometry. (Yay.) I have already done twenty lessons in Algebra so far and I have one hundred and fifty more to go. ;) Enough about me though. How are y'all? To all you home-schoolers out there, do you stop school in the summer or go all-year-round? By the way, I was going to post pictures of a new outfit but right now, I'm wearing sweats and  a T-shirts so today is not the bet day for pictures. Hehe. :) I promise to get some pictures up soon though. Unless, you want to see what someone looks like when they have had only ONE cup of coffee today. It ain't pretty. :P Oh! Before I forget, I have a Pinterest. There's a board for the blog so check it out! (I don't have very many pins on that particular board (yet) but I should soon. I spent hours on Pinterest yesterday reading funny Memes and looking up food recipes. (I can't don't cook but somehow staring and drooling over yummy food completes me...) But really, Pinterest. Is. Awesome. That is all. Good day! :P

Search my name or username (madelyn16000), scroll down, and you should see the modesty For A Purpose Board! And of you want to follow me, that's good too. =)

      Ice Skating with Friends

So remember  my last post about the ballet skirt? I said I would try to post some pictures of Anna, I, and some of our friends ice skating. Well, here I am over a week and a half later finally posting the pictures. My next post will explain my "wonderful" excuse for not blogging sooner. :) I'm going to go ahead and warn you that these pictures are not the best of quality. It was dark, my hand was wobbly (who am I kidding, my whole body was wobbly on skates! Haha!), and my iPod does not take the best of pictures. (I don't know why...) While I ponder over this thought, enjoy the pictures! :)

      Anna and I :)

      Group shot
Stay tuned for my next post today :)
