What I Wore + A One of A Kind Original Guide

Hey y'all,
We're all trying to recover from being sleep deprived due to the tornado sirens that went off early Tuesday morning and the loud claps of thunder that kept waking us up last night. We were only in the hall for about forty-five minutes Tuesday morning but it took us forever to go back to sleep. There was rotation but thankfully, it didn't touch down. I have attached a guide to surviving being sleep deprived. :P Probably not super helpful but, hey, it's original.

Excuse my horrible posture. I'm working on it. *grins*

I love the color and how simple this outfit is. :)
Dress: Hand-me-down
Shirt: Old Navy

My Guide to Being Sleep Deprived
  • Take a catnap. Seriously, if you do this, then just skip the suggestions below. Though, if you can't or won't take one, you might want to rethink skipping them.
  •  Caffeine is a lifesaver. No joke.
  • Exercising works wonders.
  • Two words-a hot shower. Nuff said.
  • Get yourself ready in the morning.  To some, it might be a small thing to do, but it helps. Drastically.
  • Be productive. You feel even more sluggish and tired if you sit on the couch all day. (Is this a choice for you?? I could only dream of doing it. But really, if doing nothing all day is an option for you, then you're doing it wrong.)
  • Sugar helps to an extent. Your parents and/or doctors are going to kill me if they read this but surprisingly, it helps. (Key word to an EXTENT. That means don't eat so much sugar you feel like you're going to burst. Been there, done that. It actually makes situations, such as this, worse. ;))
  • Get pumped up. Listen to some awesome music, read an intriguing book, have a dance party, do something to get you going.
There it is folks. A guide to staying awake. If you're like me, you will need this guide every. single. day. If you are not then..have a nice life! *insert smile/grin here*

It's is a lovely Saturday here and I hope that is the case for you as well. *smile* I thought I would go ahead and post pictures of the dress I wore for Easter Sunday.

It gets pretty cold inside our church so I brought a white, lightweight sweater. :) I didn't get any pictures of it though.

Dress: Blonde Grasshppper
Shoes: Shoe Station

I hope to post pictures of Sydney and Emma's dresses soon. I'd love to see pictures of your Easter dress/outfit! =)

Maxi Skirt Madness

Hi y'all! Right now I don't have enough time to post pictures of  my Easter dress, (hopefully I'll be able to post it tomorrow) but I will post an outfit one of my sisters wore a few weeks ago. =) Funny title for my post right?? :P

She has gotten where she loves to wear maxi skirts. It's kind of funny because she's a bit of a tom-boy and she didn't want anything to do with skirts/dresses for a while. ;)

#2 Out of This World Girl!

Hello Everyone!

Today on 'Out of This World Girl' we are going to take the letter 'O' from 'Modesty'and the key word will be obedient. We need to be obedient to God in how we dress. He has commanded us to dress and act in a modest way. We see this in the following verse that God is desires kind-hearted, feminine women:

Proverbs 3:15
She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her.

Also, we need to honor our parents and their suggestions on modesty. Because good, Christian parents want their girls to grow up and be a good example to their friends, and good role models for young girls. For example I appreciate Madelyn creating this blog. She is encouraging me so much to think about modesty. She is being such a good example to all of her friends. Let's all strive to be more obedient to God in how we dress and act!
       Fun and Feminine

I looove this outfit! It's super comfy + cute!

Out of This World Girl!

Hello Everyone,
It's great to be back! Today I am starting a series of blog posts on 'Modesty For A Purpose'. I have entitled it ' Out of This World Girl'. First I want to thank Madelyn so much for the opportunity to be writing these posts. I'll be looking forward to writing every other week on Thursday. I want these posts to be an inspiration for all of you. Sometimes I personally feel like I'm not good enough in my life, and looks, but I will have to remind myself that God made me exactly how he wanted me to be.
So for the first few weeks of my posts I want to take one word, 'Modesty', and take one letter in this word each week to make a new word. We are going to take that word and use it on how we can show modesty. This week our letter is 'M', and our key word is 'Mindful'.

*Mindful- bearing in mind; inclined to be aware

We all have to be mindful in how we dress and act. Other people notice what we do. Often I think of younger girls that may go to church with me, or that are in my home school co-op and so on. They look up to me and notice what I do. I want to be the good example God wants me to be.
Psalm 26:3
For I have always been mindful of your unfailing love and have lived in reliance on your faithfulness.”

The verse above shows how David looked up to God, and was mindful of his goodness. When others look at us we want to show Jesus, and make it obvious that we are his followers in how we dress, but most importantly our inward selves.
1 Peter 3:4
Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.

Fun, and Feminine

For every 'Out of This World Girl' post, I would like to close it with a stylish, unique, and modest add-on to your styles. I entitled this 'Fun, and Feminine'. Whether it is nails, or hair, etcetera, I just want everyone to look forward to modest style. So today I'm going to share a couple hair styles that I think y'all will like!

1. I think this first one is so elegant! Your basically twisting and overlapping, but at the end you turn it to just one big twist.

15 Simple Step By Step Hairstyles

2. I love this! This one, your just simply overlapping.

Best Hairstyle Tutorials For Everyday. Ill try this one when I straighten my hair out.

Even if you chose a more simple style, make sure you greet the world with your clean, brushed, and beautiful hair!

What I Wore // Casual OR Dressy

Hey y'all! Slooow decribes my week perfectly. :/ BUT, I do have a new outfit to share with you!

I think that this could either be a classy, casual outfit or a cute, dressy one. It just depends on your preference. :)

A headless shot...yeah, this could be counted as strange. :P

I have an unhealthy obsession with shoes. Just kiddin'! ;)

Top: Gift for Christmas like two years ago
Skirt: Cato
Shoes: Shoe Station

I finally found the *perfect* Easter dress yesterday! The picture above shows the pattern on the dress. :) It would look better if you saw the whole dress though. I can't wait to show all of it to y'all in a couple of weeks! Before I forget, Modesty For A Purpose's new blogger (Anna) is going to be blogging tomorrow so make sure you check back then! So what do you think? Casual or dressy?

Sunny Day in Semi-Chevron

Hey y'all! I have a really fun dress to show you today. It was *super* sunny when I took these pictures so I'm squinting in a lot of them. ;)

So, this is a purple and pink "semi-chevron" dress with a black belt. I was a bit unsure about this dress at first, but now I adore the style of it. :)

Dress: Cato
Shoes: Shoe Station

This is the lovely nail polish I used to paint my toenails. I love the color and it went well with the dress.

I just realized I have been posting a lot for the past few days! I have three more posts to do this week for the One a Button Down Blog Event. After that, I'll probably only post once or twice a week. :) What did y'all think about this outfit?

Announcements | Sister In Spring

Happy Tuesday, y'all! I hope your week has been off to a good start. I have a few announcements but first, I'll show you some pictures of my impromptu photo shoot I had with one of my little sisters.

It has been very warm here today so of course she wore shorts. To go with the shorts, we added a spring-y top that had lots of flowers on it. She looks so cute! ;)

Top: Belk
Shorts: Walmart
Shoes: Shoe Station
All in all, this was an inexpensive outfit.

It's time for the announcements. :-) A week or so ago, my friend, Anna Foster, guest blogged. We are excited to announce that she is going to be a permanent writer. She's planning on writing every other Thursday starting next Thursday. (April 10th) Stay tuned for more information about the topics she'll talk about. I can't give too much away right now, but I'll tell you this: it's going to be good. =) Anna has her own personal blog called Ising4Cupcakes. Don't you love the name?! (Go to her blog here.)

Now, for my next announcement. Modesty For A Purpose has an Instagram! Definitely go check it out. I've only posted a few things but you can be sure I will post more. (@modestyforapurpose)

Last announcement! This Thursday through Saturday (April 3-5th), I will be participating in One Button Down Blog Event. You wear one button-down shirt for three days, styling it differently each day and I post the pictures of it on my blog. Check out the instructions here. I will most likely be participating in this event so be sure to check back here Thursday. :D

Here's a picture of the shirt I'll be styling.

Thanks for reading! Be sure to check out Modesty For A Purpose on Instagram and look on my blog tomorrow for another post.
Also, spread the word about this blog! ;)
