One Major Resolution // 2015

2015 will be here in less than 11 hours. 2014 was great and I'm excited to see what 2015 has in store for us. We're not the kind of people who make New Year resolutions. We're not even the kind of people who like staying up until 12am to ring in the new year. (I know, we are total sticks-in-the-mud. I fully realize that.) We are the kind of people who like adventures and for some reason, I have a feeling 2015 will be full of 'em. (I know it will definitely bring the adventure of me driving. Hehe) So, no planning out every detail of the year, no being grumpy, and no resolutions except one. Live the year to the fullest. Now, I don't mean doing things that you know are just plain dumb-like cliff-diving. I'm saying live everyday like it's your last. We are not guaranteed tomorrow. We aren't even guaranteed tonight. Love Jesus. Live for Him. Because He fills your life with good things. (Psalms 103:5) This upcoming year may be scary for you. It's a little intimidating for me too. But we can take comfort in what the Bible says: "And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them." Romans 8:28 (NLT) If you'd like, you can leave a comment below to tell me how you are going to live for God, not just in 2015, but every year. I'd love to hear from you! And, of course I have to put my favorite verse in here. It fits the occasion *perfectly*. Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV) "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

That verse makes me tingly and warm because I know that God loves me enough to make a plan for my life. Happy New Year!

Christmas \\ 2014

So for the past month, I have been singing, humming, and listening to Jason Gray's song "Christmas is Coming." Love it! Anyway, Christmas was coming, Christmas was here, and now Christmas is over. But that's OK! We have made so many memories!! We're already anticipating next year!

This was taken Christmas Eve before we left to go to our family's Christmas get-together. We had a blast!

Christmas Day!

These little goodies are from Karen Kingsbury (my favorite author ;)) and her daughter Kelsey Kupecky's Dayspring Possibilities line. They are vintage and classy and are just plain adorable.

A close up of the coffee mug just because. Note that there is a book quote (from a book I really love) on the outside. Per-fect.

And, a Bible verse in the inside. He fills my life with good things: Psalm 103:5 This mug was made for me! I'll stop talking about coffee mugs in just a sec. Just bear with me a bit more. :)

Before Christmas, Mom and Dad were joking (or so I thought) about getting me a mug (for Christmas) with a picture of them on it. We got a few laughs out of the joking but I thought that was all they were doing-joking. So, when I came to a particular gift, I noticed a few giggles directed towards me. OK...Of course when I opened the box with the mug on it, we all burst out laughing. On one side is a picture of them and on the other side, there is a little caption that says "You are my sunshine. We love you, Madelyn." {Side note: Mom and Dad used to sing "You are my Sunshine" to me when I was little. :) The caption almost made up for the picture. Almost. :P

Francesca Battistelli CDs! I love the album "My Paper Heart" and I love the few songs that I have heard on the CD "If We're Honest!"

Books! Yay! I love my new books. :) The second book from the left is called "Loving" by Karen Kingsbury. I have read it before and loved it. I practically begged Mom and Dad to get it. ;) Can't wait to read them! :)

I bought Kyle Kupecky and Anthem Lights's earlier albums with my iTunes gift card. I've listened to the songs before on Pandora and YouTube but I was very happy when I was able to buy the albums. By the way, Kyle Kupecky's Christmas album Snowed In is great. I got it the day it came out. By the way, did I mention that he was Karen Kingsbury's (my favorite author ;)) son-in-law?

Merry Christmas from the trio of goofballs. I'm not sure where the other two are. ;)

We got a few bigger goodies, but I won't blog about those. I encourage you to read the story of Jesus's birth. {Luke 2} I get chills every time I read it. That's what Christmas is all about. Jesus's birth.

I hope y'all had a merry Christmas! Happy New Year!

Friday Favorites

6 days until Christmas.Where did the month of November and the beginning of December go? ;) Here are my favorites this Friday...

The movie Frozen. I have seen this movie so many times but I still love it. We'll probably watch it again next week. ;)

This picture is pretty self explanatory. Making gifts for Mom's friends at work. :)

The "queen of the couch" as we like to call her. She's a mess.

Another favorite is the start of Christmas vacation. Once I'm done with today's school, I won't have any schoolwork for two weeks. :)

Monday Favorites!

This is Monday Favorites instead of Friday Favorites because I was too lazy didn't have time to post until now. Brace yourself. This is a post filled with Christmas-y stuff and what-not. ;)

My favorite things from the past few weeks have been:

Thanksgiving! Oh my word. I love(d) Thanksgiving so much.

Francesca Battistelli's Christmas album. Between Pandora and our actual CD, I have listened to this album all the way through more times than I can count. Love it! :)

Christmas card making. Excuse my drawing. I was never very good at arts and crafts. Haha!

Picking out and cutting down our Christmas tree! This is definitely one of my our favorites. So. much. fun.

Drinking coffee in front of that same (almost) decorated tree. This was taken before we hung ornaments but you know, I had to have my coffee. ;)

Making and decorating Christmas cookies at a friend's! Super fun!

Until next time...

Book Review | Angels Walking

Happy Saturday! I'm going to pop in real quick and share an awesome book with y'all. I read it a week ago. (:

Karen Kingsbury's: Angels Walking

First, let me start by saying that other books that Karen Kingsbury has written in the past have really deepened in my faith in Jesus. Angels Walking was a super inspirational book that has help me look more for God's fingerprints in my life.

A summary of Angels Walking from the book itself:
"Somewhere in heaven, a decision has been made. An angels walking team has been assigned to a desperate mission: a broken baseball player, the love he left behind, and the miracle that might save a whole city. When angels walk, most people never know, never see. But they are there. And sometimes the stakes are so high, all of heaven stands ready.  One-time national baseball hero Tyler Ames has lost everyone he loves on a quest to make it to the big leagues. Then, just when things seem to be turning around, Tyler hits rock bottom. Across the country, Tyler's only love, Sami Dawson, has moved on. A series of small miracles leads Tyler to a maintenance job at a retirement home and a friendship with Virginia Hutcheson, an elderly woman with Alzheimer's, who strangely might have the answers he so desperately seeks. A team of Angels Walking takes on the mission to see hope restored for Tyler, Sami, and Virginia. Can the small and seemingly insignificant actions of the unseen bring healing and redemption? Can the words of the stranger restore a lost love? Every journey begins with the step.
It is time for the mission to begin."
It was an incredible book! It really made me think about angels walking the earth. I would definitely recommend this book. I think it's suitable for all ages.

Let me know if you read it! And make sure to check out some of Karen Kingsbury's other books such as The Bridge, Fifteen Minutes, the Baxter Family series and so much more! Her books are amazing!

Friday Favorites

It's Friday! Here are my favorites this week...

I love Proverbs. It is so rich in wisdom. I just want to highlight the whole book. ;) Proverbs 3:5-6 might be my favorite verse in Proverbs 3. He will show me what paths to take. I don't have to depend on myself but on Him. How. Awesome.

CANDY. Need I say more?? I should hope not.

So, Digger sneaked into Sydney and Emma's room. Emma and I were in there and just could not resist his puppy dog eyes! I tried to resist the cuteness but I just could not. So, I just let him snuggle under the covers once. I have never done this any other time... :P

Re-post: "Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about what happens to you." 1 Peter 5:7 (NLT) Love this picture and love this verse.

Me every time I read a book. *grin*

Saw this and had to post it! Who doesn't love the minions? HAPPY FRIDAY!

Friday Favorites

Friday Favorites has returned! I don't know about you, but I've missed these long few weeks where these posts haven't been featured. ;)

My favorites this week are...

This cutie. I know, I know, in every few posts, I feature a picture of him but hey, he's adorable. By the way, he got into this position himself. I'd say he's a genius but I suppose that I might be a little biased. ;)

Do I need to say more?

These awesome people aka my sisters. Love 'em. <3

This fabulous looking/tasting cake that a family friend brought us. Thanks Pheliz!

Hot chocolate + whipped cream + cinnamon. Fan-tas-tic. ;)

I love Fridays...

Fun and Feminine #1

Hello Everyone!
Today I will writing the first Fun and Feminine post. I am so excited! I love style, helping people, crafty stuff, and just all kinds of ways to be fun, feminine, and modest. If you didn't read my introduction post for Fun and Feminine, click here, and you can find out what these posts are all about.

Every week, I'll give an idea on how to dress modestly, a Bible thought, and a way to put the Bible thought into action. For our Bible thought today, I would like to discuss with you how we speak. So many people just do not take God's name seriously.

Bible Thought

Sometimes you might hear people take God's name in vain in public, or on television, but really don't think much about it. And sadly, there are some people that don't know better because they've grown up hearing that all the time, but if that's your case, I hope that you can learn something from this post! :)

My mom and I are taking a Bible class every Monday afternoon, and yesterday in class we discussed how important it is to respect God's name. If you read the Bible, the book that can help you with EVERY problem that you have, there are verses that talk about taking God's name seriously. Not just God's name, but words that have bad meanings, and slangs for those words. Generally, we don't want to say "gosh", 'gees", "omg", or 'golly", because those are slangs for God's or Jesus's names.

In my Bible class yesterday we also talked about not to say "oh my goodness." If you think about it, it's really not the best thing to say, because you don't want to be talking about your goodness do you? I'm trying not to say that anymore. Here are some verses that help us see the importance of respecting God's name more.

Matthew 12:36
I tell you that, on the day of judgment people will give account on every careless word they speak.

Exodus 20:7
You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes his name in vain.”

Colossians 4:6
"Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer each person."

James 3:9-12
"With our tongue we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse people who are made in the likeness of God. From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so. Does a spring pour forth from the same opening both fresh and salt water? Can a fig tree, my brothers, bear olives, or a grapevine produce figs? Neither can a salt pond yield fresh water."

These verses are all so important to study. We will be judged for every single time that we curse or take God's name in vain.  Like me, I hope that you learned something, and will try to speak positively and encourage everyone you know to say good words.

Take Bible Thought to Action

Here are a couple of ideas that might help you if you're having trouble with saying any of these words, even "oh my goodness." These ideas might sound cheesy, but they'll help. Keep a chart of every time you say a curse word, slang word, or say God's name disrespectfully. You can wear a rubber band around your wrist and every time you catch yourself saying a not-so-good word, pull it up and let it go. Ouch!

Fun and Feminine Ideas

Cute. Even shows u have to do it. Score

Friday Favorites | Food, Family, Friends

My favorites things this week are...

My family. This was taken recently at our family reunion. Seriously, I love my people. ;)

Waiting at the dentist office. There's nothing like it. :o

Remind Me Who I Am by Jason Gray. I have listened to this song like fifty times over the past couple days. No joke.

My friends. Life with them, is just the best.

These chicken quesadillas. Oh my word y'all, these are the yummiest (is that a word??) food that I have ever tasted. It's like I have gone to food heaven. My whole family loves them and we can be, uh, a bit picky at times. Try these.

So...check back in a couple weeks and (hopefully) I will have another one of these fun posts.

I just love Christmas. I mean, who doesn't? Seriously though, from November 1st until midnight on December 25th, is what I live for/look forward to every year. My family is Christmas freaks fanatics. We all love the cheesy movies, over the top lights, amazing food, fun songs, and most of all, celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ. So today, I'm going to get crazy and share something I'm calling "I like Christmas so I'm going to share my favorite things about it with you" pictures included(!!) Short(ish) and to the point. :)

Favorite things about Christmas...

2013: Picking out & decorating our tree. It is a tradition for us to go to a tree farm, find a tree that we love, cut it down, and then decorate it. This in itself is so much fun. Last year we had the best time. We had such a blast and we were so excited. Needless to say, it would not be the same if we did not get to pick out our own tree.

2013: Pajamas. They have the cutest PJs out at Christmas. I know that probably sounds a little weird, but hey, it true. (And yes, I like penguin pajamas. Don't judge.)

2013: Sweets & treats. Oh my goodness. Part of why I love Christmas, is that there are so many excuses reasons to bake goodies. I don't know if y'all have noticed, but I have sweet teeth. Not a sweet tooth but sweet teeth-as in plural. I love sugar. This is no secret.

2013: Teaching your aunts and uncle how to take a selfie. Every. Single. Year.

2013: Alabama. This may or may not be relevant to what I have been/am discussing, but I love how we can wear shorts or short-sleeves in December. December, people! There are two people in the picture wearing short-sleeves and one person (yours truly) wearing shorts. I just love this. I hate being cold so Alabama is a good fit.

Charlie Brown. It is also a tradition to watch A Charlie Brown Christmas. When Linus tells Charlie Brown about the true meaning of Christmas, cue the goosebumps! ;)

2012: Good times. We've been blessed because all we know at Christmas are good times. Laughing, singing, and talking are all things that go on around here during that time. The holidays just makes us happy. :)

Hallmark movies. I l-o-v-e the movies that Hallmark Channel's countdown to Christmas shows. They are coming out with so many new ones this year that I can hardly wait! Every year, all five of us (plus our two dogs) pile on our couches to watch the new Christmas movies. It's a tradition. I love Hallmark's year-round movies that they make as well, but nothing beats their Christmas movies. :)

2012: Snuggling. The *only* good thing about the cold is snuggling under the covers. That is the one and only thing that I like about it. Digger demonstrates snuggling to a tee. He is totally our dog. Our other one...not so much. She refuses to have anything to do with snuggling-or blankets in general. ;)

2012: Lights. A few blocks away from our house is this man that has so many Christmas lights. We literally started calling him the man with all the Christmas lights when we were little and we have called him that all-year-round ever since. He is a neighborhood legend. Each year he adds more lights and each year, we are more astonished than the last.

Music.  I have way too many favorite Christmas songs. I love pretty much all of them. :)

2012: Family. Every Christmas Eve, my family on my Dad's side, get together. My uncle and we alternate hosting. This year, we are hosting again. :)

Reading about Jesus' birth. Every time I read about his birth, it leaves me with goosebumps. Jesus' birth is just amazing. The King of all Kings born in a stable with common animals. Wow. Celebrating his birth is the reason for the season.

So you've most likely figured out how absolutely crazy I am about Christmas. I might have a problem. ;) I might be too excited about Christmas now...oops. November 1st, better get here fast. By the way, I apologize for saying the word "Christmas" a gazillion times. I get excited easily. ;) What's your favorite thing about it?
